NOT RECOMMENDED!

We began our IVF journey here full of hope, only to end up feeling like customers at a very expensive shop, not patients in a clinic. The initial quote was just the teaser; once we were in, the costs kept climbing without prior notice with several excuses. Even the simplest things came with a price tag. At times, it felt like compassion was optional but invoices were mandatory.

If you’re planning to come here for treatment, don’t forget to bring your emotions… and a blank cheque. You’ll need both.

I have been visiting Dr. Naila Jabeen for 3 years, ever since her clinic was in Model Town. I have been her patient since then. Dr. Naila Jabeen is a very good doctor with a great attitude, but her nurses are extremely rude. Today, one of the nurses misbehaved with me, and I cried a lot. I am 22 weeks pregnant, and she didn’t even consider that I am a regular patient, yet she treated me so disrespectfully. What do these nurses think of themselves? Their position is to follow orders as nurses, but they show so much attitude. I have noticed that they only respect patients who come in dressed up in a modern way. Just because I go in simple attire doesn’t mean I deserve to insulted..

Low AMH Levels in Pakistan: What It Means and Can You Still Get Pregnant?

Receiving an AMH test report can be an emotional moment, especially if it shows a low result. Many women in Pakistan immediately worry that they may never become mothers. However, low AMH levels Pakistan do not automatically mean you cannot conceive. AMH is only one part of your fertility assessment, and many women with low AMH have achieved successful pregnancies naturally or with fertility treatment. At AAS Fertility & IVF Center, located at Chohan Tower, 16 Jail Road, Shadman II, Lahore, Dr. Naila Jabeen, IVF Specialist, helps women understand their fertility and creates personalized treatment plans that offer hope and the best possible chance of pregnancy.

What is AMH and What Does the Test Measure?

AMH is a hormone that helps doctors estimate your ovarian reserve, not your ability to become pregnant.

AMH stands for Anti-Müllerian Hormone, a hormone produced by the small follicles inside the ovaries. These follicles contain immature eggs that may develop and be released during future menstrual cycles.

The AMH test measures your ovarian reserve, which simply means the estimated number of eggs remaining in your ovaries. It does not tell doctors whether the eggs are healthy, nor does it predict with certainty whether you can become pregnant.

Because AMH levels remain fairly stable throughout the menstrual cycle, it is one of the most reliable fertility blood tests available today.

The AMH test Pakistan is a simple blood test that requires no fasting or special preparation. It is widely available in Lahore and other major cities and is commonly recommended for women planning pregnancy, undergoing fertility evaluation, or considering IVF treatment.

In Pakistan, the AMH test cost Pakistan generally ranges between PKR 4,000 and PKR 8,000, depending on the laboratory and city. At AAS Fertility & IVF Center, AMH results are always interpreted together with age, ultrasound findings, and other fertility investigations to provide a complete picture rather than relying on one test alone.

What is a Normal AMH Level? (Age-Wise Guide for Pakistani Women)

AMH levels naturally decline with age, so a lower result does not always indicate a fertility problem.

Below is a general guide used by fertility specialists.

AgeNormal AMH Range
20–25 years3.0 – 6.8 ng/ml (High / Optimal)
26–30 years2.0 – 4.5 ng/ml (Good)
31–35 years1.0 – 3.5 ng/ml (Average)
36–40 years0.5 – 1.5 ng/ml (Low-Normal)
Above 40 yearsBelow 0.5 ng/ml (Low)

These values are approximate and may vary slightly between laboratories.

One of the most important things to remember is that AMH naturally decreases as women grow older. This decline is part of the normal ageing process and does not necessarily indicate infertility.

For women planning IVF with low AMH Pakistan, fertility specialists generally consider AMH levels between 1.0 and 3.5 ng/ml favourable because they often predict a good response to ovarian stimulation medications. However, pregnancy is still possible even when AMH is lower than this range.

Your fertility specialist will always interpret AMH together with your age, menstrual history, ultrasound scan, and other fertility tests before recommending treatment.

What Causes Low AMH Levels in Pakistan?

Low AMH levels usually develop gradually and may occur for several different reasons.

Age

Age is the most common cause of low AMH. Women are born with all the eggs they will ever have, and this number naturally decreases over time, particularly after the age of 25.

Premature Ovarian Insufficiency

Some women experience reduced ovarian function earlier than expected. This condition, known as premature ovarian insufficiency, causes ovarian reserve to decline before the age of 40.

Previous Ovarian Surgery

Operations performed to remove ovarian cysts or treat endometriosis may reduce ovarian reserve by affecting healthy ovarian tissue.

PCOS

Interestingly, PCOS and high AMH often occur together. Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome usually have higher-than-normal AMH levels because they have a larger number of small follicles.

Genetic Factors

Certain inherited conditions may influence how quickly ovarian reserve declines. Family history can sometimes provide important clues about reproductive health.

Autoimmune Conditions

Some autoimmune disorders may affect ovarian function by causing the body’s immune system to mistakenly attack healthy ovarian tissue.

Smoking and Lifestyle

Smoking exposes the ovaries to harmful chemicals that may accelerate egg loss. Poor nutrition, obesity, and chronic stress can also negatively affect overall reproductive health.

Although these factors may reduce ovarian reserve, they do not automatically prevent pregnancy. Early diagnosis and appropriate fertility care can make a significant difference.

What Does Low AMH Actually Mean for Your Fertility?

Low AMH means fewer eggs remain in the ovaries, but it does not mean there are no eggs or that pregnancy is impossible.

This is one of the biggest misconceptions about AMH testing.

The AMH test measures egg quantity, not egg quality. A woman with low AMH may have fewer eggs available, yet those eggs can still be healthy enough to result in pregnancy.

For this reason, many women with low AMH conceive naturally, while others achieve successful pregnancies through IVF treatment.

Fertility specialists never rely on AMH alone. Instead, they combine it with several other important assessments, including:

  • Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) blood test
  • Antral Follicle Count (AFC) ultrasound scan
  • Age
  • Menstrual history
  • Overall reproductive health

Together, these tests provide a much clearer understanding of fertility potential.

Women with low ovarian reserve often respond differently to fertility medications, but many still produce healthy eggs during treatment. Even retrieving a small number of good-quality eggs can be enough to achieve pregnancy.

The most important message is one that every woman should remember:

Low AMH is not the same as infertility. It simply helps doctors choose the most appropriate treatment strategy and plan the best possible path toward pregnancy.

Can You Get Pregnant With Low AMH in Pakistan?

Yes. Many women with low AMH become pregnant naturally or through fertility treatment.

Although low AMH indicates a reduced ovarian reserve, it only takes one healthy egg to achieve a successful pregnancy. Many women become mothers despite having lower-than-average AMH levels.

At AAS Fertility & IVF Center, Dr. Naila Jabeen has helped numerous women with diminished ovarian reserve move closer to parenthood through individualized fertility care.

When natural conception becomes difficult, IVF offers another opportunity. Modern fertility medicine has advanced significantly, allowing specialists to tailor ovarian stimulation protocols according to each woman’s ovarian reserve.

Women with low AMH may benefit from mild stimulation or Mini IVF, which focuses on retrieving fewer but healthier eggs instead of aiming for a large number of eggs.

Every patient responds differently to treatment, which is why personalized fertility care is so important. Rather than focusing only on AMH numbers, experienced fertility specialists consider age, AFC, hormone levels, egg quality, and overall health before recommending treatment.

With timely diagnosis, expert guidance, and individualized care, many women with low AMH continue to achieve successful pregnancies and fulfill their dream of becoming mothers\

IVF With Low AMH — What to Expect at AAS Fertility Lahore

Women with low AMH require a personalized IVF approach because every ovarian reserve is different.

If your AMH level is low, your fertility specialist will carefully design an IVF treatment plan that suits your body rather than using a standard protocol. At AAS Fertility & IVF Center, every patient receives an individualized assessment before treatment begins.

The first step is a detailed fertility evaluation. Along with the AMH blood test, Antral Follicle Count (AFC) is performed through a transvaginal ultrasound. AFC measures the number of small follicles visible in the ovaries and helps estimate how many eggs may respond to stimulation medications.

Depending on your age, hormone levels, AFC, and medical history, Dr. Naila Jabeen may recommend a customized ovarian stimulation protocol. Some women require higher doses of fertility medications to encourage the ovaries to produce mature eggs, while others benefit from mild stimulation protocols that focus on obtaining fewer but healthier eggs.

One important fact often surprises patients: a successful pregnancy does not require dozens of eggs. Even retrieving two or three good-quality eggs can lead to healthy embryos and a successful pregnancy.

Throughout treatment, the team closely monitors follicle growth with ultrasound scans and blood tests to ensure the safest and most effective response.

At AAS Fertility & IVF Center, personalized IVF protocols are designed to maximize every opportunity while keeping treatment safe and patient-focused.

Natural Ways to Support Fertility With Low AMH

Although low AMH cannot be reversed, healthy lifestyle choices can support overall fertility and improve your body’s response to treatment.

DHEA Supplementation

Some women with diminished ovarian reserve may benefit from DHEA supplements, but they should only be taken under the supervision of a fertility specialist. Self-medication is not recommended.

CoQ10 Supplements

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is an antioxidant that may help support egg health by protecting cells from oxidative stress. Your doctor can advise whether it is suitable for you.

Manage Stress

Long-term stress increases cortisol, a hormone that may interfere with normal reproductive hormone balance. Relaxation techniques, gentle exercise, and emotional support can improve overall well-being during fertility treatment.

Eat an Antioxidant-Rich Diet

A healthy diet rich in berries, leafy green vegetables, citrus fruits, nuts, seeds, whole grains, and lean protein provides nutrients that support reproductive health.

Avoid Smoking

Smoking accelerates the loss of ovarian reserve and exposes eggs to harmful toxins. Quitting smoking is one of the most effective lifestyle changes for protecting fertility.

Maintain a Healthy Weight

Being significantly underweight or overweight can affect hormone balance and ovulation. Achieving a healthy body weight supports both natural conception and IVF outcomes.

While these habits cannot increase AMH levels, they can help create the healthiest possible environment for pregnancy.

Frequently Asked Questions About Low AMH in Pakistan

Q: What is a low AMH level in Pakistan?

A: In general, an AMH level below 1.0 ng/ml is considered low, while levels below 0.5 ng/ml indicate significantly reduced ovarian reserve. Results should always be interpreted by a fertility specialist.

Q: Can I get pregnant naturally with low AMH?

A: Yes. Many women with low AMH conceive naturally. Low AMH indicates fewer eggs, not poor egg quality or complete infertility.

Q: What is the AMH test cost in Lahore, Pakistan?

A: The AMH test usually costs between PKR 4,000 and PKR 8,000. AAS Fertility & IVF Center also provides expert fertility consultation to interpret your results accurately.

Q: Does low AMH mean I need IVF?

A: Not always. Treatment depends on your age, ovarian reserve, partner’s fertility, and overall reproductive health. Some women conceive naturally or with simpler fertility treatments.

Q: Can low AMH levels improve naturally?

A: AMH levels usually cannot be increased naturally. However, healthy lifestyle choices and appropriate medical treatment can improve your chances of pregnancy.

Q: Which is the best clinic for low AMH treatment in Lahore?

A: AAS Fertility & IVF Center, led by Dr. Naila Jabeen, provides personalized fertility care for women with low AMH at Chohan Tower, 16 Jail Road, Shadman II, Lahore.

Conclusion

Low AMH can feel worrying, but it is not the end of your fertility journey. It simply means your ovarian reserve is lower than average—not that pregnancy is impossible. Many women with low AMH have conceived naturally, while others have achieved successful pregnancies through personalized fertility treatment and IVF. Early evaluation, expert guidance, and the right treatment plan can make a meaningful difference.

In Summary: Low AMH measures the number of eggs remaining in the ovaries, not the quality of those eggs. Pregnancy is still possible with low AMH, and many women become mothers through natural conception or IVF. Personalized treatment, age, overall reproductive health, and timely medical care are the key factors that influence success.

How Smoking Affects Male Fertility & IVF Success: A Guide for Men in Pakistan

Many Pakistani men who are trying to start a family continue to smoke without realizing how strongly it can affect fertility. They may focus on their partner’s health while overlooking their own reproductive health. In reality, smoking is one of the most common yet often ignored causes of male infertility Pakistan. Cigarettes, nicotine products, and even hookah can reduce sperm quality and lower the chances of natural conception. At AAS Fertility & IVF Center on Jail Road, Lahore, Dr. Naila Jabeen, IVF Specialist, regularly helps couples understand how smoking affects fertility and what steps can improve their chances of success.

How Does Smoking Damage Sperm?

Understanding how smoking affects male fertility starts with understanding how sperm are produced. Healthy sperm need the right environment, balanced hormones, and proper development. Smoking interferes with all three.

Think of sperm as athletes preparing for an important race. For successful fertilization, they need strength, speed, and healthy structure. Smoking weakens them before the race even begins.

Smoking Reduces Sperm Count

One of the first effects of smoking is a reduction in sperm count. This means fewer sperm are available to reach and fertilize the egg. Research consistently shows that smokers are more likely to have lower sperm concentrations compared to non-smokers.

Smoking Reduces Sperm Motility

Sperm motility refers to how well sperm can swim. Healthy sperm must travel through the female reproductive tract to reach the egg. Nicotine and other toxic chemicals found in tobacco can slow sperm movement, making fertilization more difficult.

Smoking Affects Sperm Morphology

Sperm morphology means the shape and structure of sperm. Abnormally shaped sperm often struggle to fertilize an egg naturally. Smoking increases the number of sperm with structural abnormalities, reducing fertility potential.

Smoking Damages Sperm DNA

Perhaps the most serious effect is sperm DNA fragmentation, which means damage to the genetic material inside sperm. Tobacco smoke creates oxidative stress fertility problems, where harmful molecules damage healthy cells. This DNA damage may affect embryo development, pregnancy outcomes, and fertility treatment success.

In addition, smoking can disrupt nicotine and testosterone balance, affecting hormone production that supports sperm development.

How Long Does Nicotine Stay in Your System and Affect Sperm?

Many men ask, “How long does nicotine affect sperm?”

The good news is that sperm production constantly renews itself. However, it is not an overnight process.

A complete sperm development cycle typically takes 72 to 90 days. This means the sperm produced today actually began developing nearly three months ago.

When a man quits smoking, nicotine levels start dropping within days. The body begins repairing itself quickly, and improvements in circulation and hormone function may appear within a few weeks.

However, meaningful improvements in sperm quality generally become noticeable after one complete sperm production cycle. Most fertility specialists recommend allowing at least three months after quitting smoking before evaluating improvements in fertility.

For some men, further recovery continues for up to six months, especially if they have smoked heavily for many years.

This is why fertility specialists strongly encourage men to stop smoking well before starting fertility treatment or attempting conception.

Does Hookah (Shisha) Also Affect Male Fertility?

Many people assume that hookah, also called shisha, is safer than cigarettes. Unfortunately, this is another common misconception.

When discussing hookah and sperm count, the evidence shows that hookah can be just as harmful—and sometimes even more harmful—than cigarettes.

A typical hookah session often lasts much longer than smoking a single cigarette. During this time, users may inhale large amounts of nicotine, carbon monoxide, heavy metals, and other toxic substances.

These chemicals can negatively affect:

  • Sperm count
  • Sperm motility
  • Sperm morphology
  • Hormone production
  • Overall male reproductive health

In Pakistan, hookah use is particularly common among younger men who may not realize its impact on fertility. Because the smoke passes through water, some people incorrectly believe harmful substances are filtered out. In reality, many toxins still reach the lungs and bloodstream.

For men concerned about fertility, avoiding both cigarettes and hookah is one of the most effective lifestyle changes they can make.

How Smoking Reduces IVF & ICSI Success Rates

Smoking does not only affect natural conception. It can also reduce the success of advanced fertility treatments such as IVF treatment Lahore and ICSI for male infertility Pakistan.

Research has shown that smokers may experience 20% to 30% lower IVF success rates compared to non-smokers. This reduction occurs because smoking affects sperm quality at multiple levels.

Poor sperm quality can reduce fertilization rates during IVF and ICSI procedures. In addition, damaged sperm DNA may affect embryo development after fertilization.

Healthy embryos are more likely to implant successfully and result in pregnancy. When sperm quality is compromised, embryo quality may also be affected, reducing the chances of successful implantation.

Smoking may also contribute to hormonal changes that affect overall reproductive health, making fertility treatment less effective.

Couples considering ivf or icsi should understand that lifestyle choices can influence treatment outcomes just as much as medical procedures.

For this reason, fertility specialists often encourage smoking cessation as part of pre-treatment preparation. Improving sperm health before treatment can significantly improve the likelihood of achieving a successful pregnancy.
Can Quitting Smoking Improve Fertility Before IVF?

The answer is yes. One of the most encouraging facts about how smoking affects male fertility is that many of its effects can improve after quitting. The body begins repairing itself soon after nicotine exposure stops, and sperm quality often improves significantly within a few months.

Because sperm take approximately 72 to 90 days to develop, fertility specialists usually recommend quitting smoking at least three months before IVF. This allows a new generation of healthier sperm to develop before treatment begins.

Men who stop smoking may experience improvements in:

  • Sperm count
  • Sperm motility (swimming ability)
  • Sperm morphology (shape and structure)
  • Sperm DNA quality
  • Hormone balance

In addition to quitting smoking before IVF, several healthy habits can support fertility recovery:

Eat Antioxidant-Rich Foods

Foods rich in antioxidants help protect sperm from oxidative damage. Fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and whole grains can support better reproductive health.

Exercise Regularly

Moderate physical activity improves circulation, hormone balance, and overall well-being. Simple activities such as walking, cycling, or light gym workouts can be beneficial.

Maintain a Healthy Weight

Excess body weight may affect testosterone levels and sperm production. Achieving a healthy weight often improves fertility outcomes.

Get Adequate Sleep

Quality sleep helps regulate hormones involved in sperm production and overall reproductive health.

The sooner a man quits smoking, the sooner his body can begin producing healthier sperm and improving fertility potential.

Other Lifestyle Habits That Harm Male Fertility in Pakistan

Smoking is not the only lifestyle factor that can affect fertility. Several everyday habits may also contribute to male infertility causes Pakistan.

Excessive Chai Consumption

Drinking tea in moderation is generally safe. However, excessive caffeine intake may affect sleep quality and hormone balance, which can indirectly influence fertility.

Poor Sleep Habits

Regular sleep deprivation can lower testosterone production and reduce sperm quality over time.

Obesity

Being overweight may disrupt hormone levels and increase inflammation throughout the body. This can negatively affect sperm production and reproductive health.

Keeping Mobile Phones in the Front Pocket

Some studies suggest prolonged exposure to heat and electromagnetic radiation near the reproductive organs may affect sperm quality. More research is needed, but limiting direct exposure may be beneficial.

Tight Clothing

Constant heat around the testicles can interfere with normal sperm production. Loose-fitting clothing may help maintain healthier temperatures for sperm development.

Small lifestyle improvements can work together to create meaningful improvements in fertility.

Q: How long should I quit smoking before IVF?

A: Most fertility specialists recommend stopping smoking at least three months before IVF to allow healthier sperm to develop.

Q: Can quitting smoking improve sperm count?

A: Yes. Many men experience improvements in sperm count, motility, and overall sperm quality after quitting smoking and adopting healthier lifestyle habits.

Conclusion

Smoking remains one of the most overlooked causes of male fertility problems in Pakistan. It can reduce sperm count, impair sperm movement, damage sperm DNA, and lower the chances of success during IVF and ICSI treatment. Fortunately, these effects are often reversible, and many men see significant improvements after quitting smoking.

In Summary: Smoking harms sperm quality by affecting sperm count, motility, morphology, and DNA integrity. It can also reduce IVF success rates by 20% to 30%. Quitting smoking at least three months before fertility treatment gives the body time to produce healthier sperm and improve the chances of conception.

7 Common Myths About Infertility in Pakistan — Busted by a Fertility Expert

Infertility myths are still very common in Pakistani society. Unfortunately, these misconceptions often create unnecessary stress, blame, and emotional pressure for couples who are already struggling to conceive. In many cases, myths delay proper diagnosis and treatment, making the journey even more difficult. To improve infertility awareness Pakistan, Dr. Naila Jabeen, IVF Specialist at AAS Fertility & IVF Center on Jail Road, Lahore, is addressing some of the most common infertility myths Pakistan with facts backed by medical science. Understanding the real causes of infertility can help couples make informed decisions and seek the right care at the right time.

Myth 1: Infertility is Always the Woman’s Fault

Myth:

If a couple cannot conceive, the problem must be with the woman.

Fact:

This is one of the most damaging and widespread myths about infertility in Pakistan. Many women face blame from family members and society without any medical evidence. However, fertility experts know that infertility is not just a female issue.

Studies consistently show that male infertility Pakistan contributes to approximately 40% to 50% of infertility cases. Problems such as low sperm count, poor sperm movement, or reduced sperm quality can make conception difficult. At the same time, women may experience conditions such as ovulation problems, hormonal imbalance, PCOS, or blocked fallopian tubes.

Because fertility involves both partners, doctors recommend fertility testing for couples rather than focusing on only one person. A proper diagnosis helps identify the real cause and allows the fertility specialist to recommend the most effective treatment plan.

Infertility is a medical condition—not a reflection of gender, personal worth, or responsibility.

Myth 2: If You Just Relax, You’ll Get Pregnant

Myth:

Stress is the only reason pregnancy is not happening.

Fact:

Many couples hear advice such as, “Stop thinking about it” or “Just relax and it will happen.” While reducing stress can certainly support overall health, stress alone is rarely the sole cause of infertility.

In reality, there are many medical causes of infertility, including ovulation disorders, PCOS, hormonal imbalance, low sperm count, blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis, and age-related fertility decline. These conditions require proper evaluation and treatment rather than simply waiting for stress levels to improve.

That said, emotional stress can affect overall well-being and may make the fertility journey more challenging. Therefore, managing stress through healthy lifestyle habits, exercise, family support, and counseling can be beneficial.

However, couples should not assume that relaxation alone will solve fertility problems. If pregnancy has not occurred after a reasonable period of trying, consulting a fertility expert Lahore is the best next step.

Myth 3: IVF / Test Tube Baby Always Results in Twins or Triplets

Myth:

Every IVF or test tube baby treatment leads to twins or multiple babies.

Fact:

This misconception comes from earlier fertility treatments when multiple embryos were often transferred to increase pregnancy chances. Today, fertility medicine has advanced significantly.

Modern IVF treatment focuses on both safety and success. In many cases, fertility specialists recommend transferring a single healthy embryo, especially when embryo quality is excellent. This approach is known as Single Embryo Transfer (SET).

The chance of twins or triplets depends largely on the number of embryos transferred rather than the IVF procedure itself. Therefore, many IVF pregnancies result in the birth of a single healthy baby.

Understanding the facts helps reduce unnecessary fear about IVF myths Pakistan and test tube baby myths. Couples should discuss embryo transfer options with their fertility specialist to understand the safest approach for their specific situation.

At AAS Fertility & IVF Center, treatment decisions are personalized to maximize safety while improving success rates.

Myth 4: Infertility Only Affects Older Couples

Myth:

Young couples cannot experience infertility.

Fact:

Although age and fertility are closely connected, infertility can affect couples of any age—including those in their twenties and early thirties.

Many younger women experience PCOS and infertility, ovulation disorders, hormonal imbalances, or blocked fallopian tubes. Similarly, younger men may face issues related to sperm count and quality that affect fertility.

Age does remain an important factor because fertility naturally declines over time, especially for women after age 35. However, age is only one piece of the puzzle. Lifestyle factors, medical conditions, genetics, infections, and reproductive health history can all influence fertility.

Because infertility can affect younger couples as well, it is important not to ignore symptoms simply because of age. Early diagnosis often allows fertility specialists to identify problems sooner and improve treatment outcomes.

No couple should assume they are “too young” to experience fertility challenges.

Myth 5: Once You Have One Child, You Can’t Be Infertile Again

Myth:

Having one child means future pregnancies will happen naturally.

Fact:

Many people are surprised to learn about a condition called secondary infertility. Secondary infertility occurs when a couple successfully conceives one child but later struggles to become pregnant again.

Several factors can contribute to secondary infertility. Age-related fertility decline is one common reason. In addition, hormonal changes, weight fluctuations, new reproductive health conditions, sperm quality changes, or complications from previous pregnancies can all affect future fertility.

For example, a woman who previously conceived naturally may later develop ovulation problems or blocked fallopian tubes. Likewise, a man’s sperm quality may change over time due to health or lifestyle factors.

Because of these possibilities, previous pregnancy does not guarantee future fertility. Couples experiencing difficulty conceiving another child should seek professional evaluation rather than assuming pregnancy will happen eventually.

A fertility specialist can identify underlying issues and recommend appropriate treatment options based on current reproductive health rather than past fertility history.

Myth 6: Home Remedies and “Garam” Foods Can Cure Infertility

Myth:

Eating certain foods, herbal remedies, or “garam” foods can cure infertility completely.

Fact:

Traditional foods and home remedies have been part of Pakistani culture for generations. Many families recommend foods such as dry fruits, honey, herbs, or other dietary changes to improve fertility. While maintaining good nutrition is important for reproductive health, no food alone can cure infertility.

Infertility often results from medical conditions such as ovulation problems, hormonal imbalance, blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis, PCOS, or male fertility issues. These conditions usually require proper medical evaluation and targeted treatment.

Healthy eating can certainly support overall well-being and may improve fertility in some cases. However, relying only on home remedies may delay diagnosis and reduce valuable treatment time.

The best approach is to combine a healthy lifestyle with professional medical care. A fertility specialist can identify the actual cause of infertility and recommend the most appropriate treatment plan based on individual needs.

Respecting cultural traditions while seeking evidence-based medical advice helps couples make informed decisions about their reproductive health.

Myth 7: IVF / Test Tube Baby is Against Religion

Myth:

IVF or test tube baby treatment is not allowed in Islam.

Fact:

This is one of the most common concerns among couples considering fertility treatment in Pakistan. Many people worry that assisted reproductive treatments may conflict with religious beliefs.

However, Islamic scholars and legal authorities in Pakistan have provided guidance on this issue. The Federal Shariat Court ruling of 2017 clarified that IVF is permissible when the sperm and egg belong to a legally married husband and wife and the resulting embryo is transferred into the wife’s uterus.

Under these conditions, the child is considered the biological and legal child of the married couple. The treatment simply helps fertilization occur when natural conception becomes difficult.

Procedures involving third-party sperm donation, egg donation, or surrogacy are generally not permitted under these guidelines. However, IVF using the married couple’s own reproductive cells remains acceptable.

For many couples, understanding this ruling provides reassurance and allows them to pursue fertility treatment with confidence and peace of mind.

When Should You See a Fertility Specialist?

Many couples wait too long before seeking professional help. Early evaluation can identify fertility problems sooner and improve treatment outcomes.

You should consider consulting a fertility specialist if:

  • You have been trying to conceive for more than one year without success.
  • The woman is over the age of 35 and pregnancy has not occurred after six months of trying.
  • Menstrual periods are irregular, absent, or unpredictable.
  • There is a known history of PCOS and infertility.
  • Previous fertility treatments have not been successful.
  • There is a known male fertility issue such as low sperm count or poor sperm quality.

Early consultation can help identify underlying causes and provide access to effective infertility treatment Lahore options before valuable time is lost.
